Abstract

This study aims to test a genre of classical writing, that is, the Biographical Dictionaries, to find out the legality of adopting such works when dealing with social and cultural issues, such as the topic of the journey and the related travel blog known today as "journey literature". This is done by employing quantitative and qualitative statistical tools, in order to employ the various data contained in the biographies dictionaries and rebuild them according to the conclusions we want to reach about the journey, its purposes and directions, by focusing especially on the scientific journey, as well as monitoring the works that accumulated the travel blog during the Ottoman era, based on the works of oriental biographies dictionaries, specifically the Egyptian and Le-vantine ones, which were inscribed during the 11th and 12th centuries AH / 17th and 18th CE.
